BBC television has now completed a one-hour documentary on the late guitarist, Baba lover, and close friend of Pete, Ronnie Lane.
(Quote:) "We cooperated extensively with the producers and as a result there is a very good two minute section in the programme on Meher Baba."
The documentary called THE PASSING SHOW includes archive film of Pete and Delia de Leon and other early Baba followers as well as several very good shots of Baba himself from the 1930s and 1950s. The BBC chose two MEFA/Meher Baba Oceanic film productions, "O Parvardigar Restored and Extended" and "Delia" as source material for all the shots they used. It also includes new interviews with Pete, Eric Clapton and many other musicians.
(Quote:) "We took enormous care to ensure that the film of Baba was restored to the highest quality possible in the time and Richard attended telecine transfers and the editing of the section at the BBC."
This will be the first network television transmission of film footage of Baba ever in Europe.
A large audience is expected for the programme which screens in the popular BBC4 9pm music-documentary-slot on Friday January 6th 2006. It is expected to be followed straight after by two concerts featuring Ronnie, one of SLIM CHANCE, the other of THE FACES.
MEFA's website address www.meherbabafilm.com will be included in the credits so that viewers wishing for information about Baba can make contact. Baba leaflets will be sent out by Meher Baba Association, London to all who get in touch.
A four minute preview of THE PASSING SHOW is now screening on the MEFA website: www.meherbabafilm.com where there is also more information about Ronnie Lane
